Details for Abstract submission
Only IMPRS-CMB students who have joined prior to November 2017 are strongly encouraged to submit poster abstracts. You can only submit your abstract online during registration. Before submitting, please take into consideration:
- The abstract should not contain more than 500 words.
- If you copy paste the text, hidden formatting might still be included. We recommend copy-pasting it into Notepad and then onto the website.
- Some symbols are not recognised by the tool after they are copy pasted. If errors still occur, try again. :P
- Enter the list of authors/affiliation spaced by a semi-colon. Example: Sironi L./Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology; Hornemann C./Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology. Scroll over the different box titles on the registration form for additional information.
WHAT’S NEW THIS TIME
Panel discussion: IMPRS students can submit questions that will be asked to a group of pre-selected invited speakers as part of a one hour free wheeling panel discussion. Questions asked could be anonymous and could pertain to conventional topics from ethics in science, funding, publishing, science in developing countries, career advice to the more wacky artificial intelligence in modern biology, work-life balance in science etc.
Chairing a talk: To involve other IMPRS students in the running of the event, students could opt to chair a part of a session of their choice. This means shortly introducing the speakers and guiding the discussion session after the talk. On occasion, the chair could be required to ask the speaker a couple of questions regarding the talk. Please note that the final selection of chair for each session will depend upon the number of entries and at the discretion of the members of the organising committee.
DINNER WITH SPEAKERS
IMPRS-CMB students have the opportunity to choose four speakers with whom they would like to interact with over two dinners, one of which is the social event.
What is the social event?
Keeping up with the long standing tradition of organising visits to places with rich and varied histories in the area (BVB Stadium in 2014, Zeche Zollverein in 2016), this year we will visit the local breweries of Dortmund. This allows students to interact informally with other IMPRS students and the invited speakers.
